MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE
The Network Engineer’s role is to support the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data network services alongside the existing team. In addition, the Network Engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, communication links, Telephone systems and Security appliances. This individual will also analyse and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required.
Covering a range of Network, Telephony and Security hardware and software throughout the PayPoint Group
Implement, modify and troubleshoot site-to-site IPSec VPNs to customer sites.
Implement, modify and troubleshoot remote-access SSL VPNs.
Maintain documentation which relates to network environment.
Participate in software upgrades to new and existing network equipment
Work with the Network team to provide support and day to day changes via ServiceNow change management platform.
Provide Cabling and termination of Cat5 and Cat6 data cables to IT equipment
Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment and other network appliances.
Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports using network tools
Participate in managing all network security solutions.
Perform server and security audits, and system backups and recovery as needed
Configure, support corporate telephone systems.
Support the Operations teams UK, Romania and Canada by providing network, telephony and security services to enable these teams and business to deliver transactions and day to day services.
Liaising with third party support companies
Position RequirementsEssential skills
CCNP qualification or equivalent level of knowledge.
5+ years networking experience
2+ years’ experience in a financial services environment.
In depth knowledge of Cisco Switching
In depth knowledge of Cisco Routing
Switches (Nexus 7K, 3750, 3850 & 6500 switches)
Firewalls (Palo Alto & Cisco ASA)
Routers (Cisco 3945)
Load balancers (Cisco ACE & F5)
QoS for IP Telephony.
Monitoring Applications (Wireshark, Solarwinds & Splunk)
Working knowledge of PCI-DSS an advantage.
Cisco Security Manager.
Palo Alto Global Protect.
Highly organized and able to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Able to conduct research into networking issues and products as required.
Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
Self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Strong customer service orientation.
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Passport and driving licence.
Access to a motor vehicle.
The successful applicant must be prepared to participate in a call-out rota 1 week in 4. The Network team provides cover 24/7/365.
The successful applicant must be willing to commit to out-of-hours work when required.
The provisioning and Inspection of cables in floors and ceilings may be required.
May involve lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
Based in Welwyn Garden City, though visits to other PayPoint offices will be required from time to time.
Visits to PayPoint international offices may occasionally be required.
